Hemimandibular Hyperplasia of right side of mandible

A female patient aged 14 years was referred to the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, M.R. Amnedkar Dental College & Hospital by a general dental practioner with a complaint of swelling in relation to lower right mandible.

Radiograph and CT scan showed :
Condylar hyperplasia of right side      Vertical excess of mandibular ramus on right side.

On Examination:

  • Asymmetry of the face was noted which gave the face a rotated appearance.
  • Unilateral asymmetric increase in height of the face had given rise to sloping of rima oris.
  • Facial canting was noted.
  • Deviation of jaw to left side on opening of mouth.
